Frequently asked questions

The content on this page is subject to change over time. It describes the Adhoc DevOps service and process current at the time of writing.

What is Adhoc DevOps?

Adhoc DevOps is a DevOps service provided without registration fee, without retainer and without the requirement for a fixed spend. It's a "pay as you go" DevOps service. It's important to note that because the service is "ad hoc" (i.e. created or done for a particular purpose as necessary), there is no Service Level Agreement or assured response times attached to work requests. We normally respond to messages on the same or by the next business day and the majority of requests are completed within two weeks.

What does 'client directed process' mean?

In client-directed process, we do what the client says not what we think the client means. We clarify and attempt to deliver the requirement as per the clients instructions. It's important to note that under a client-directed process it is possible for a deliverable to meet the client requirements but not fulfil the client's intended purpose for the request. We follow this approach because the Adhoc DevOps process is a simple straightforward model. There are other ways of working followed by other service providers that are more suitable for clients who need help defining their requirements.

What type of DevOps work does Adhoc DevOps do?

Our experience comes from working with and for digital agencies over the past 20 years. We have experience supporting development and build environments for PHP applications such as WordPress, Drupal, Laravel with tools like Docker, TravisCI, CodeDeploy, CloudFormation, Github, Bitbucket and many more. Technology choices change steadily over time, where once puphpet was a quick way to get a local development site up and running now projects like ddev provide alternative and up to date options. Staying current and adapting to the constant change is also part of what Adhoc DevOps does.
